Description of our service

After cryopreserving a strain, it is necessary to monitor the succes of freezing and to judge the feasability of subsequent recovery of the strain. This is the purpose of our quality controls that will provide you with accurate data to be used to optimise the recovery.

 For frozen sperm (using the JAX™ Sperm Cryo Kit1):

  • in vitro quality control (QC1) allows you to know the viability and the ability of thawed sperm to fertilise oocytes.
  • in vivo quality control (QC2) allows you to know the ability of sperm to produce embryos from in vitro fertilisation, able to develop in uterofor a live birth.

 For frozen embryos:

  • in vitro quality control (QC1) is done by thawing embryos at the 2-cell stage and culturing them for 24 hours. The QC1 is expressed in % of embryos at 4-8 cell stage.
  • in vivo quality control (QC2) is done by thawing embryos at the 2-cell stage and reimplanting them in pseudopregnant females. The QC2 is expressed in % of pups born.

Our method

  • in vitro quality control (QC1):

- on frozen sperm straw:

collection of oocytes by hormonal stimulation of donor females and thawing of straws.
in vitro fertilisation and embryo culture 24 hours.
evaluation of the fertilisation rate: % of embryos developed to 2-cell stage.

- on frozen embryo straw:

thawing a straw and embryo culture for 24 hours.
measurement of embryo viability (rate of evolution of 2-cell stage to 4-8-cell stage).

  • in vivo quality control (QC2):

- on frozen sperm straw: QC1 and reimplantation of embryos into recipient females.
- on frozen embryo straw: thawing a straw and reimplantation of viable embryos in pseudopregnant recipients.
- pregnancy and birth of pups.
- evaluation of the birth rate: calculation of the number of pups born per number of embryos reimplanted.
